Planned Parenthood

We were expecting our first child after more than six years of marriage. To be perfectly honest, we had started getting nervous that we might not be able to have children. At the doctor’s request, Kim had started taking her temperature each morning so that we could get a read on her cycle. After a couple of weeks, we saw her temperature rise a little, but then it never went back down, so we made a visit to the doctor. Sure enough, Kim was pregnant.

As you might expect, it was a very exciting time in our lives. Being the research nerd that I am, I began looking for books, organizations, whatever I could find to help us succeed in this new adventure and I came across an organization called “Planned Parenthood”.  I did not find much information on the place, but based on the name, I thought, “What a great idea. An organization that helps parents understand and deal with every phase of a child’s life.”  What a perfect concept!

Needless to say, that was not what we found. The people at the office were very kind. We did see a movie about childbirth, but there really was not much information beyond that. The mission of Family Dimensions is to help fill that gap.
